Soapherb is a small, quality, soap company based in Cairns, Tropical North Queensland, Australia.
We are at the Port Douglas markets each Sunday located near St. Marys church by the sea and also at the Yungaburra markets on the 4th Saturday of each month located opposite the information booth. Our soap recipes are meticulously created from the finest ingredients. Making natural soap requires exact weighing and accurate temperature control. The end quality is also dependent on the selection of the highest quality ingredients and the skill of being able to obtain an excellent result without the use of harmful chemicals. Simply, combining the natural process of fine ingredients, time and temperature. The result is natural saponification and fantastic quality soap. Soapherb is made by natural cold process using the finest oils; a blend of olive oil, palm oil and coconut oil plus aromatherapy quality essential oils, selected herbs and natural colours. Some Soapherb soaps have no added colours, essential oils or herbs. They are just pure soap. All are hand cut and hand stamped.

Cold process, what is it?
Cold process soaps are made without any cooking or high temperatures. Cold process is natural, all the components of the oils are retained, particularly glycerin which is often removed from mass produced soap. Glycerin is a very important component in high quality soaps. Glycerin attracts moisture to your skin. Soapherb cold process soap is cured for several weeks before sale. This allows the completion of saponification, the very process of making soap. Mass produced soap is subjected to high temperatures and usually contains chemicals including those derived from petroleum, they are not naturally, but chemically cured. They often contain animal fats and the glycerin is removed during manufacturing . At Soapherb, each batch is equal to 100 bars of soap. Temperatures must be maintained just above body temperature during mixing. On completion of mixing, the liquid is poured into a wooden mould where it remains for two days. It generates its own natural heat as it goes through the first stage of natural saponification. As Mother Nature does her work it actually turns a dark brown, sets and returns to its intended colour before being removed from the mould. It is stored for several weeks to complete the final stages of natural saponification. Then, by hand, it is wire cut, stamped with the “Soapherb” brand, wrapped and labelled. It takes four to six weeks to make high quality, natural soap. The only energy used is a small amount during mixing process. There is no waste and no damage to the environment.

How to use Soapherb soap.
To effectively use our soaps and to get full benefit from the rich, quality, ingredients, you may have to acquire some new habits. Soapherb soaps, when used as recommended, will lather to a rich creamy finish using little soap. Wet your body, turn away from the water flow of your shower and with soap in hand apply a small amount of soap. Place soap on the shelf and rub the soaped area vigorously with your open hand or wet face washer. The soap will immediately develop a rich, creamy, luxurious lather. Allow a few seconds for the oils to penetrate your skin, don’t be in a hurry. Turn back into the water flow and rinse thoroughly. Your skin will be soft and silk like. You will be amazed how little soap you have used. Used as recommended it lasts a long time. Keep your soap in a soap dish away from moisture. Avoid contact with the eyes.
Using "Soapherb" on your hair. Use Soapherb on your hair with a result that will surprise you. Some shampoos have similar ingredients to engine degreaser and chemicals (even poisons) to strip your hair of natural oils requiring conditioners to restore it. Soapherb cleans your hair without stripping. It is not always necessary to use a conditioner. Soapherb can be used on bleached hair. Whilst our soaps can be used on your hair, Ylang Ylang will produce the best result. Soapherb also lathers well in hard water. |
